Open-end needs only 30 degrees of movement. Ring ratchet is an unusual 80 tooth design needing only 4.5 degrees to click. The open end also has a serrated plate serving two purposes. On top, it stops the jaw-dropping down off the head as it unscrews, on the bottom, it helps grip the head to prevent rounding the shoulders.
