Duralac® sets fairly hard… I know this because I applied some to a hose coupling then had to delay the job for a few weeks and it was very difficult to get out of the threads. Apply wet during reassembly. It is completely insoluble in water, so it won’t wash away even in harsh environments like boat rigging.
