These don't rotate around a single pivot, the jaws move parallel to each other. Ideal for gripping two opposing faces of square, hex and bi-hex fasteners. Used by jewellers they are smaller than standard pliers and the jaws are smooth. You could either grind in some texture or use some heavy-duty outdoor adhesive strip to increase grip.
